about us

"Some people are worth our knitting socks for them ...;)

You are welcome, noble lady, noble lord,

with me, “Trine from the Externsteinen “I am called in my wool cosmos, in the world of medieval craftsmanship, of spinners, knitters, dyers, weavers!

However, it seems to me that the time has come to impart a little more knowledge about "Trine von den Externsteinen" to you without praising me:

My passion for the Middle Ages, its markets, customs and traditions almost makes me forget that I saw the light of day in Duisburg in 1962. I grew up completely unencumbered by handicrafts of any kind.

I did the boring handicraft lessons at school regularly, but I didn't like it ... the spark of passion did not jump over.

I like to attribute this to the fact that my parents, out of sparse, provided me with poor knitting yarn and even worse needles, which were to be blamed for the creepy result. My school results were well worth seeing, so that, as I wished, I was allowed to take up an apprenticeship at the psychiatric clinic in Süchteln without any fuss after finishing school.

Having reached the goal of my dreams, however, I found that night watch was also part of my duties. As I already got with

The sisters on the night watch were keen knitters who never survived the night watch without their knitting work.

Following the example of the alternative party, which could even be found knitting on socks, scratchy sweaters, etc., in the Bundestag.

So I made up my mind to try knitting again. My memory told me that there were purl and right stitches to be knitted, so that I started with colorful, rustic socks tried.

Lo and behold: these socks were perfect!

Somehow the wool must have contained the "knitting virus" back then, because since then I've been heavily infected, not only with the passion for wool, spinning wheels, looms, etc. etc. but also with the tremendous enthusiasm for the interesting, exciting medieval markets where I show how a thread is spun from the raw material wool or silk, on the hand spindle or on the spinning wheel….

a thread from the wool that I dyed and worked by hand beforehand, just like the maids used to do.

I am known in the markets as the Höckeweib "Trine von den Externsteinen", with the spinning wheel and hand-dyed and spun wool.

But also as a supplier of exclusive wool, great lace yarns and hand-dyed fraitrade yarns.

Yarns that inspire me again and again to create wonderful, unique scarves, socks, jackets and much more.

My motto is:

I can knit anywhere, in the doctor's waiting room, at the hairdresser's, on the tram ......

A ball of wool and a few knitting needles for a rustic sock fit in every pocket.

Are you in the mood for self-knitted socks?

I am happy to take orders for the ladies of the women's group of the AWO, who then knit them especially for you from oyster wool and Schoeller's wool!

In order to be present outside of medieval markets and to be able to offer exquisite wool, I founded “ Trines wool cosmos ",

a small online shop.

Since 2020 Trine's endless wool worlds have also been available to “touch” at home, in her small but fine wool shop.

In this sense:

O come closer, noble lady / noble gentleman, so that you can also inspect the subtleties of my goods. As far as you are, your eyes could otherwise fall out of your head.

God keep you!

Your "Trine von den Externsteinen"
